Just played with this in Paint.net. I can be done. Cool!

Um...you can still cut your fingers on the other hand! Ha Ha... Actually holding it as above is a good way to get leverage and prevent strain and chaffing. Cut enough hard things like squash for any length of time and you'll appreciate the above technique.

Sorry, missed this reply. I hate this new system at LifeHacker. Seem to remember I got an email on replies. Anyways, yes, both Hulu and Boxee have an icon in my "Extra's" toolbar in WMC. The process for Hulu is here: [lifehacker.com] The process for Boxee is here: [lifehacker.com]

You can loose your local data just as easily as data in the cloud, so ranting about the cloud is useless. The ideal solution is to have local and cloud storage. Even local backups are not always safe or reliable. One thing to note is, unless you are running your own local mail server, all e-mail whether it's free

Click the little down arrow to the right of the collection name and select Download. Choose a format and go!

I think it's Google Desktop that does that, but also there is a lab in GMail for offline mode. Not sure if that will work. I'm using Thunderbird anyways, so moot for me.

Oh yay, Apple is clogging up more of my MP3 player! If I were an audiophile listening in a pristine setting, I might care, but most people listen to music in no so quiet environments, so I can't help but think all this is doing is making the files bigger.

One of the strengths of Evernote is the "junk in the trunk". Anything like web clipping, screen capture, or emailing capabilities available with this? I'm also guessing no mobile capabilities.

Verizon's "My Verizon" part of their web site where you can monitor plan usage on your phone shows me when I'm eligible for a phone upgrade (while it's still available) and when my plan expires, which uncannily is two months after a handset upgrade date! Sprint had a similar thing when I was with them 6 months ago.

Nice as you leave ink mark trails on your carpet....no thanks.

The problem with the story on the "confession" app is it's a tool to look at what you may need to talk to a priest for and is used before going to "reconciliation" (it's not called confession anymore). There are booklets for this and this is merely an electronic version. Most people don't go to reconciliation because

It does live updating (versus the website), and you can setup columns of specific topics that come from search terms or lists (at least with Tweetdeck). For instance I have my Twitter timeline in one column (friends I follow), a search term for the place I live in another column so I can see what is happening in town

A lot of people are complaining about the government, but I see this as kind of cool that at least they are getting the ideas from the people the govern. Nice to see this instead of having some new regs rammed down our throats and not fixing the problems. And yes, there are a lot of people out there that need hand

Interesting that a tuner and antenna was never mentioned, but this option makes cutting the cable easier and can only be done in an HTPC. None of the set top streamers have this option yet. A good antenna well placed (roof or at least the attic) and a decent tuner, which are cheap now, is a great addition!

I've seen hacks too using a slow cooker. Not sure what the results will be since I haven't tried it.

Bonus tip for Blackberry users who have GMail accounts:

If you are paranoid on what Google does with your information then maybe you should have read these before signing up:

@tobylane: Most places cannot sell personally identifiable information without your explicit approval. The problem is that stuff is buried in fine print. It's no different than your credit card company or store shopper cards. I'd trust Google who is being watched like a hawk versus a local grocery store anyday. And
