I know. I watched every major historical event in my adult life through the eyes of Jon Stewart - the Bush/Gore election, 9/11, Barack Obama's election, etc. He had a huge impact on my worldview.

Hopefully the next breakout star will be Jessica Williams! She's amazing

I wish Jon Stewart was the face of NJ instead of Chris Christie! Jon Stewart for governor!

Man I'm so bummed! I remember watching Jon Stewart after 9/11 happened and it had such an impact on me. I'm a young, so I was a pre-teen when it happened and I remember crying during his broadcast to this day.

I respect that - but I just don't think it's either/or. I'm in a high powered professional white collar field. I'm the only woman in my office of 35 people. I experience anything from microagressions to full on sexism and discrimination every single day. And on one hand, it's like - yeah let me just cry into my

I tried to write something like this but was worried I would come off insulting towards our amazing admin staff who I just realized I don't *know* if their job is planning the birthdays or if they just do it!

Thank you.

Yeah but here's the thing - when women can't obtain leadership positions in high powered white collared jobs and they continue to be dominated by 100% men, then no women are in positions of power to drive change and it hurts all of us. Sure, it's not as sad - but it's real and it affects all women.

I'm the only woman at my firm in a non administrative capacity out about 35 and - you know what - I'm having a really fucking crappy week of microagressions I want to SCREAM. These are good guys with good hearts but the microagressions, little comments, expectations, etc are just too much some days. There is something

Completely agree - I'm ok with "marriage is something we discussed and agreed upon, I don't know when it's coming but I know it's in the future for us" kind of surprise - but COMPLETE surprise?! that's not a good sign at all.

I actually think if my bf told one of my friends to ask me to get manicures that week it would be a really nice gesture! I won't instagram or fb RIGHT away but it would be nice to not have ugly bitten nails in that picture to my parents. Idk - I don't think it's like, "what if you chip your nails" but more like, "try

No they're more expensive. The advice was specifically "eating healthy on a very tight budget"

I hate all this shit so much - but I do have kind of chronically undone/sloppy nails and I really hope the bf tells one of my girlfriends to ask me to get a manicure around the time he wants to do it because THOSE PICTURES THOUGH.

My parents are jewish and had to get married on a sunday as well. They specifically chose the week after the superbowl because my dad's a football fan, and almost all of their friends/family are as well. Low and behold, a few years later the superbowl got moved back a week because of the game schedule/advertising to

I kind of like it as a "one pressure filled romance holiday" instead of two!

I understand both sides of this logic, and we live in a world where inevitably a large number of guests WILL have to travel (personally - I've got 4 different cities in different corners of the US where we leave, my family, his family, and the university we both attended (so many friends still in that area) to contend

I literally don't understand this train of thought. If you've watched like one episode of the show in the past 6 years, you would know that Kanye *adores* Kim.

"state school" vs. private school is very differnet for north carolina, virginia, california, and other states with incredibly well respected public universities and states without strong state schools. UNC, UVA, etc all get a large amount of applications from out of state for a reason.

That's a good point. I guess we'll approach the private school debate when I get to it. I think the fact htat it's important for me to raise a socially aware well rounded kid will help him or her turn out to be less of an asshole ;-)

Also, your insight into the UC system is interesting. I'm from the northeast so I know a bit more about the new england private school old money scene which is all kinds of frustrating/elitist. I don't know much about the relative competitiveness of UC schools (besides that they have generally good reputations)
