I haven’t played the third one, so I can’t speak in regard to it specifically, but I definitively felt this way after playing the second game. I hated Kratos and didn’t feel satisfied while playing as him at all. Everything he does after the first game seems to be a pointless temper tantrum.

Amethyst's little song might be my favorite one yet. Michaela Dietz's voice work is brilliant, and that understated yet complex background instrumentation really set the mood. I hope we get to hear an extended version sometime.

Sorry, it just looked way too smooth and detailed to be from the original 1979 series. Figured it might be from an OVA or demo clip I wasn’t aware of. Then again, it’s been about eight years since I last watched the first series, so maybe my memory is just failing me.
