I’ve read a lot on this incident, as I’m involved in the historical costuming community. The costumer was told that she had been cleared to be there, and had been INVITED by the tour guide.

She was invited to speak by a tour guide, who had gotten prior approval for her to come in costume. To be accused of STEALING a dress from the costume institute is just beyond the pale. She’s not a fancy asshole, she’s a patron who was treated badly.

I don’t think she defended them. Its not a defense of their actions to ponder on what must’ve happened to these people to turn them into the kind of people who could do such things.
