Actually, no. The mechanism of arresting the slide is more complicated than just propping the bike up with your foot, but it’s not just something that just “happens as a result of having your foot out”, it is part of the reason to put it out there in the first place.

That’s an impressively broad dismissal of all us supermoto racers who do, in fact, catch a slide now and then by putting a little bit of extra weight on the sliding foot, to change our weight distribution on the bike. I wouldn’t say I do it a lot, but it does happen, and if you’re not completely crossed up on the bike…
