In one of the most flat-out fricking bizarre stretches of time in American history, learning this has legit blown my mind more than damn near anything else.

To this date, I tell people that I loved everything about my time living in Italy except for the racism of Italians towards blacks, ranging from casual to stunningly overt. In the end I just couldn’t take it anymore and moved back to Japan.
