Aretha Franklin and her heir, Mary J. Blige. That’s right, I said it. NOT Beyonce, MJB.

Based on the closet tour video and a few performances, I suspect she’s on prescription opioids or lots of Xanax. It’s very sad.
I agree so much, and would add the word “fallen,” which is often used for people who were murdered or killed in combat. Go ahead and say they were killed, especially if you’re part of the authority that put them in danger in the first place.
I don’t know...I think about that with Narcos as well as other crime shows like The Wire and The Sopranos. There really is a lot of glorification/glamorization of drug dealers and murderers in these shows. It’s not like they don’t know that what they’re doing is illegal. I think there’s some evidence that they’re…
Doesn’t Jon Hamm deserve recognition for the most delicious celebrity pork last name?
I remember reading that too, and yes, that’s how it jumped off.
“Being evil” always struck me as a straw-man way to frame it, anyway. Being = an immutable state, and evil = extreme wickedness to the core. If it was a slogan like “Don’t do harmful things” I’d take it much more seriously.
Yes, he’s been seen more than once buying alcohol since he left treatment. The 2 instances I knew about were a month ago or more. I don’t know why people aren’t calling this what it is. For example, I really like Lainey Gossip, but they keep saying he’s “sloppy” and not managing his image well, as opposed to just…
I’m actually an addiction counselor. Seeing these photos for a while has been very distressing, and I’m surprised that no one else seems to be thinking what I am.
Oh my God, yes. I remember the bitter litigation of what size Amy Schumer is, both from this site and others I read. It was so gross. First, when she was in such a rush to announce to the world that she’s not as fat as Melissa McCarthy. Second, when people pointedly questioned whether she was LYING about her weight or…
He’s an active alcoholic—educated guess.
It’s public that he went to treatment for alcohol abuse. All of his photos since getting out have looked red-faced and haggard. My assumption is that he’s drinking.
I don’t know why we need to figure it out either way. She wasn’t violating any law, any duty to public office, or any marriage vow.
I have to say, the advice has been totally impractical and very poorly thought-out every time I have read this column. I hate when advice writing is clearly intended to sound sassy or just entertain as opposed to actually advise. It highlights how much more difficult, and hence rare, good advice publications are.
But none are sex symbols. We admire them, but boners do not. (Bobby got my meaning.)
No I’m totally supportive of fully gray-haired women. My beef is with people calling it sexy on a man but not on a woman.
I’m mad at her for changing her name too. WTF.
I don’t like the Chanel comparison either, mostly because there is no female celebrity who is “always in style.” Especially not (decades) after letting her hair go gray.
This isn’t her worst work, but when I need to deliver this message there’s no topping “If” by Janet Jackson.
