I know how fast it is, but did not realize the xbox was using a slow drive drive connected via SATA2(this is the key component). Were it SATA 3 it wouldnt have made any sense at all

Someone explained it above, its cause the xb1x is still using sata 2 to connect the drive as opposed to sata3, which is stupid of MS.

Interesting. MS always skimping on useful hardware components on their newer devices 😩

I could only believe this is true if the xbox is using a slower than avg internal 2.5" drive AND is Sata 1 or 2. Even then, it wouldnt make sense with Sata 2

Loading it off an external HDD should yield some slow down seeing how it is loading the game from USB vs internally.

With the exception of the first party games (GOW4 is considerably larger on PC than it is on the xb.o.x.) a lot of third party games that support 4k/60 are smaller than 90gb. There are some that are upwards of 90gb, but not many.

What these devs need to do is stop using lossless files for all of their A/V assets. Theres not reason for 4k games to be that large. Even PC games with higher than 4k textures arent hitting the 90+GB mark.

I wonder where GOW4 is sitting on PC. Last I checked, it was 117gb (and that was a few months ago). It’s ridiculous how large a lot of these games are and for all of the wrong reasons.

@Mike are you able to opt to not download the 4k textures and such, but still get the 1080p/60 enhancements?

Those Ravpower batteries with AC ports only output 19V 1.6A max, so about 30W. Wont be particularly useful for any moderately power hungry device. I’d recommend the omni charge despite the ridiculous price tag if you need AC or DC power

That is true, but it doesn’t mean that every game in a series needs to be linked or directly correlate with one another.

I could understand Lysander and another dude that was killed in the earlier games, but how do we know that all of these games are linked to the current Sun and Moon universe (with the exception of red and blue)

Why does absolutely everything need a timeline

Is it finally going to happen?

You could say the same thing about consoles limiting PC, etc. It’s a silly arguement. And you could see the full quality with compressed assets anyway. Unless youre loading those textures and models into some program and pixel peeping, you probably wouldn’t notice the difference at all. I’m almost certain that 99% of…

There is no reason for it though. For a console game, why the hell do we need 16K textures (thinking of DOOM), why do we need uncompressed lossless video and audio? It is just a waste of space 99% of the time. They could compress assets or at the very least format everything in a lossy, more compressed format. It…

Haha!

I think the issue is lossless and uncompressed a/v files. A few ports to pc made this evident. When putting those same assets in a lossy format (there is no need for lossless everything in a game) or a format that compressed the audio or video for a smaller file size, the game size shrunk considerably.

I don’t think its compression that was being done (with the games I referenced in my comments) but A/V assets being put into a more lossy format, there is no need for lossless, uncompressed audio and video in games. It’s just a waste of space.
