I do the same thing as well. My favorite time is in the spring when I can turn off the central air, and open all the windows. Having a breeze blow through the house is refreshing.

As far as a second card. I'd only get the eye-fi as an option to shooting untethered to a laptop indoors or something. I'd rather put my money towards the most GB I can get, and anything above a class 6 is good.
Outdoor sports anything long will do. I have a Sigma 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 that is great for outdoor.
What camera do you have? Most cameras have a menu page that you can customize with your favorites. I put everything like that on that page, so I can go down the list and check all of them at once. Other than that, just review your photos more often. I usually check every few photos to make sure I got the focusing…
