Any of them will be a great upgrade. Canon and Nikon are the most popular, so they might be easier to find things for. I would look for a used camera rather than buying one new. You will save a lot of money that way.

Like what? Canon has an awesome 50mm f/1.8 that is a cheap, great, prime lens. You can find them on Amazon for about $130.
Because I don't really need it yet. 4GB is plenty for now, but I may not wait that long.
When my warranty is up, I am going to install extra RAM, and an additional SSD as the boot drive on my iMac. Can't wait to try it.
Looks nice, and great pan work. There is one thing that bothers me though. During some of the clips you can see him adjusting the exposure a stop or two here and there. I wish he didn't do that, because it looks less professional.

I recommend not using traditional "slides" at all. Check out Prezi.com, their presentation software is pretty awesome.
