...what? It’s from an Eminem song... It’s pretty widely used... Seriously dude, who hurt you? Like, not even trying to be a dick. Does kinja have DMs? Do you just want to vent? We could shoot the shit, if you want.
Ugh, it’s things like this that make me so annoyed that I’m so willing to take a bullet for Smashers as part of the broader FGC. The Jiggs player did nothing wrong. The Icey main is an Icey main, so he’s already living in a glass house. I think banning wobbling is dumb too, so I guess he can complain about that, but…
I would like to point out that traditional fighting game scenes are way, way better about this, like the the article mentions. I’m one of the people that wants to do their part to help unify the loose fiefdoms of the FGC, but even I have a hard time with certain parts of melee, and smash in general, and this is…
I... I’m really not sure what you’re getting at. Mostly I’m shocked you still have so much energy for this. The event is already over. There’s even another article on this site about it. Who hurt you?
I feel like you’re trying to call me out as a Smasher, which isn’t true. Regardless, stop being silly, Smash is a fighting game, and a rising tide will lift all boats. ST on the SNES was literally my first game period, but that doesn’t mean I can’t recognize that Smash is a fighting game. Also, insofar as “playing the…
Smashers already did this. The ban on items came years into competitive smash’s history after it was shown to hurt the competitive scene, and did nothing to highlight the skill of those playing.
My pushback would be that no one is stopping you from enjoying your buffet. You can dunk your turkey legs into mac and cheese and ice cream sprinkles all you want. I’m simply pointing out that there are ways to take the food offered, and make a really enjoyable meal.
To drop the food metaphor, what you see as a shame…
To be clear, I never said they couldn’t, or had no right to. The only issue I have, and what I thought was easy to infer, was making this event seem comparable to actual competitive events. I don’t think I was being inaccurate to say it is a marketing event, and I did so to distinguish it from actual grassroots…
I made like five or so comments, yeah. Thanks for taking the time to read them!
About as much as you’re getting paid to stan for Nintendo, I guess, lol.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take this over them actively trying to shut down the scene, and specifically designing the game to discourage competitive play.
“I don’t know what you mean. I haven’t dealt with toxic players in overwatch in yeaaaaaars! Toxicity is down 40%, don’t ya know.”
It’s silly to me how die hard people can be about wanting items used in smash. I wonder if these same people would argue that Pokemon tournaments should allow 99x Max Potions, and 99x Full Restores.
Considering the ruleset, and the lack of a prizepool, yeah, no one of note is going to bother. If they do it’ll be for a few twitch subs, and twitter followers. But, hey, if Ninty is going to basically leverage smash players for marketing, no reason smash players shouldn’t do the same to Ninty.
This is a marketing gimmick, but memes are strong on the internet, and “Fox, FD only” is an enduring one. People are going to believe what they want to believe, but, the truth is those people were never going to watch a competitive fighting game tournament anyway, so the loss really isn’t substantial. Everyone who…
Why would anyone want to argue if you’re intentionally using a false meme you know is false? Have fun watching your marketing event. If you do decide you want to watch competitive fighting games, I implore you to give NCR a watch. It’s a super fun yearly event that hundreds of hardworking people pump hundreds of hours…
I will chuckle at whatever silliness happens on twitter, and be watching NCR this weekend. One day, likely in the fabled year of 20XX, people will realize competitive Smash is not “FD, Fox only”, especially Ultimate, especially in 2019. I feel like these silly events that can’t be taken seriously do nothing but…
But Nintendo *isn’t* throwing around any sizable prizes. Also, Nintendo’s involvement in the Smash scene has rarely been a boon (trying to stop Evo from hosting Smash, the death of PM, these silly tournaments). Nintendo seems interested in leveraging the Smash scene for marketing purposes, but less so in actually…
Wow, the end of an era. At least now he has plenty of time to play some Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer.
