Thank you, and I’m happy you’ve found your way to Kotaku. You’re killing it, keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing this. DA:I was a game that helped me in a similar way. My best friend, and roommate at the time was in the process of kicking me out of our shared apartment around the time I dropped out of art school, thus losing pretty much most of my “friend” circle in a few days time.

But this is the exact problem. Thinking that the only cultural touch stones are freaking sombreros and maracas. Papel picados are still Mexican, and actually meant for celebrations, and you see them everywhere in Mexican communities. Easy emote that isn't a freaking sombrero

You can't hear it, but I'm snapping in agreement.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this reaction actually. I remember people losing their minds when there was an article about the term Latinx going around. Suddenly every burner account was the arbiter of who was and was not a real Latino.

That feels like a dodge considering you asked pointed, leading questions of me first, but again, happy you found them cute.

Especially if those other Latinos talk like a dreaded SJW! Then they're practically asking for it!

If these were specific emotes, well, I’d still find them pretty bad, but it’d be better than accessories for other emotes. It’s no different than getting a fake sombrero from party city to celebrate “drinko de mayo”.

Thank you!

Okay, that’s a straw man, first off. What makes you think I haven’t, and what makes you think they are willing to listen when I do? Secondly, I never said it was a blanket it’s offensive thing. In like 2 separate posts I allowed for the possibility of being Latino and not finding it offensive.

I’m not Mexican, I’m Puerto Rican. I’m annoyed that about 95% of Latino culture is left on the cutting room floor for stereotypical Mexican and chicano signifiers.

I don’t know why this needs to be said, but if you’re Latino and not offended, that’s cool. That doesn’t make this not-offensive to some of us.

As a Latinx person, please let me say - those emotes are totally, totally not fine.

I don’t get the hate. I think it is pretty obvious, with literal Easter eggs in the Spider Man game, that they're using Insomniacs Spider Man, which means they gotta work with Sony. It just seems so obvious. This feels like getting mad that Link was console exclusive in Soul Calibur 2.

I don’t know about being an anime trope, but as someone who uses thicker framed glasses, these are actually a cool idea to return some peripheral vision that’s lost otherwise.

I’ve been saying for a long while XIII was next up for a critical reexamination, and that it’d eventually have a reputation akin to XII which just got a hyped rerelease a few years ago. Around that time I left a comment on a Kotaku article much like this for XII giving XIII five years before it got the same treatment

...But... it’s only been out for two years... Imagine if, in season 2 of Game of Thrones, we found out about previously unknown family members- oh, wait...

So, this is just weird waifu/ idol culture where women, even fictional ones, are simply not allowed to have any male figures in their lives, at all, right?

Right back at ya! These are complex issues with no right answers, we can only engage in a dialogue.

As you said yourself, I use the terms fairly interchangeably and only feel any need to get specific when in woke spaces (I work in politics in SF, so I’m in them pretty frequently). Beyond that, again, I feel it simplifies the situation. Explaining the differences between bisexuality, and pansexuality usually means
