To be clear, I think Acti-Blizz is horrible, has been for practically Kotick’s entire tenure, and will continue to be horrible going forward, and I’m the kind of person who thinks EA gets a bad rap. Just, you know, pointing out that the cuts weren’t to developers, as far as I know.

Pretty sure none. Unless I read wrong, Acti-Blizz didn’t cut devs from Blizzard’s workforce, just marketing, financial, and managerial roles. More of a way to hack away at Blizzard’s autonomy, but I don’t think they’ve had that for a while anyway.

Agreed. Smash’s ruleset since Brawl really has felt... sterile, for lack of a better word. Like, clearly walkoffs should stay banned, but there are some stages that really don’t deserve to be locked out of play.

I feel this is truer in the dub than the sub. The funimation dub has Goku acting much more heroic than he does in the original Japanese airing, which is more in line with his role in Super.

Smash is a fighting game, but you’re right that the audience usually doesn’t cross over into more traditional fighting games.

TvC doesn’t get enough respect. It lives in the Street Fighter x Tekken rung of fighting games to me. If it wasn’t a Wii exclusive, I think it could have made a bigger splash, even if some people do blame the failure on Tatsunoko, because most westerners aren’t irredeemable weebs like me who recognize those characters.
