Exactly. You don't have to change to please other people. I only realized that after college. I don't expect people to appreciate my eclectic interests, just as I don't care about theirs (sports and reality TV <shudder>).

LOL, I immediately thought the same thing! Someone who doesn't know sports probably doesn't even know what a guard is (I know I don't)

Even say that—"I know it's not your fault, and I'll try really hard not to be upset with you, but I'm not happy right now because of this."

I kept myoriginal Droid X for 3 years. BUT eventually you can't upgrade to the latest version of Android on a old phone

Have clear instructions frees people up to have great ideas, because they aren't spending all their mental energy just figuring out what the hell they are supposed to be doing.

Do you still have your old phone, or did you pay full price for a new one? They wouldn't let me upgrade without signing a new contract - and giving up my unlimited data plan.

Hasn't Scott Adams been completely discredited by now as being someone we should listen to?

Does this work if you just have broadband internet access? Or do you need to have set up your own personal network?

Don't forget to lock the car doors. I awoke one night at a rest stop with someone quietly trying the door handle. The window was fogged over, and by the time I wiped it with my hand to look out, they were gone.

On a related note, if you see me reading a book in the break room LEAVE ME ALONE. Unlike most people (apparently), I read because I'm interested in the book, not just to pass the time until someone asks me about the game last night.

I don't know - the idea of networking with trade publication authors and keynote speakers just seems like it applies to such a small number of really heavy hitters, that it hardly seems mentioning in a broad post about networking for the masses. I guess that was my point.

With AMC Stubs, rewards expire in 90 days. So if you see movies during the summer, then wait until say, the holiday season to see more, then you might find you can't use your rewards.

My son hated taking pills for his ADHD. The minute it touched his tongue, he would gag. It was both the texture and taste of the pill that bothered him. The solution? I wrapped the pill in a tiny square of fruit roll-up. It improved the texture and taste, so he could keep it in his mouth longer as he learned to

I wonder how common it really is to have a particular person in mind to network with. Are there that many industries where there are 'superstars' that everyone want's to network with? I can't think of one person I would be able to research in order to try to network with them.

Let's be clear, you don't have to have a 'career'. Just having a job with fair pay is enough for most people. What's most important is outside of work for many of us.

Sounds decent, though I never use an adjustable wrench if I have a socket or regular wrench that will work.

THANK YOU! This used to be on the Start Menu in past windows versions and I was so annoyed it was removed.

You can't just expect to show up and have them hold your hand.

The weekly meeting is a must. I once had a manager who wasn't remote, but we were on completely different wavelengths. I had to set up a weekly meeting with him just to avoid problems. He was the kind of manager who assumes that everyone thought just like him. He never told you anything because, it was just

Oh, I do that all the time. It's one of my standard crutches for conversations. But it's different when they want to engage you more, and you just don't have anything in common.
