Bingo, this is a knowledgeable comment.
Oh, this is a really good point! In fact the Z3 was one of the first BMWs to be produced OUTSIDE of Germany. One would think a knowledgeable seller would realize all this. It probably even says it on the door jamb.
...wait, just a few paragraphs earlier you told us Made in Germany was preferred. Make up you mind, dude!
Hmm... no license plate, overly wordy CL ad... really looks like a dealer attempting to sell something off lot. I’m a ND just for that. That’s probably also why the seller doesn’t seem to understand where the car was built. Though I’d guess we’d see a bunch of “’Merica F’Yeah!!” all over the ad if they knew it was…
No wonder he keeps the hardtop on all the time; his brain is cooked by the heat and sun in Phoenix. Too much money, ND.
These have a nasty habit of cracking the rear suspension mounts which totals the car unless you're really handy with a welder. Plus the E85 Z4 is a better car and the 3.0si makes more power and nice examples can be had for 30% less with fewer miles.
Bullseye. I guarantee he will make buying this car a pain in the ass since he is almost certainly exactly that.
Especially when you remember the car was made in the US (Greenville SC).
I love myself a nice Bimmer, but ... so many red flags
I was going to No Dice this just on the fact that seller didn’t take out the dirty carpet cover(?) or clean passenger footwell, or take a few minutes to polish the headlights before asking a premium price for his car.
ND on age and price alone, but also, if the hood just needed an “adjustment,” he would have done it already. I suspect a decent smack on the front end at some point followed by shoddy/budget repair work.
The ingredients for the kind of person we know this guy probably is are all here: Lives in Phoenix- the Florida of the west. Check. Chevy Silverado in the garage. Check. Making lame comments about it not being made in China, which is just plain stupid. I’d bet money this is a generic, trump-supportin’ white dude who…
Owner is hitting the pipe with that price, and even if it was lower, the S2000 and Boxster S were both monumentally better cars from the same segment in the same era. It might even out a little more if this was an S54 car but it is not.
ND With that kind of mileage should ask $9,500
ND. Plenty of other options, like the same car with 30k fewer miles, for a third the price. Even found one that’s two thirds the price with only 27k miles. Dude is delulu.
ND. This is above market for that mileage even with the hardtop (and I say that as an owner looking to sell in the spring because of a newly licensed 16-year old). The car itself looks to be in decent shape but with at least one easy cosmetic fix (the missing airbag tags on the door cards) skipped.
They also boast that it comes from an era when BMW was at the top of its game, throwing in some probably unintended racism by noting that it was “built in Germany, NOT in China.”
Too much for a car with all those miles. Plus the CL ad has all those dealer/broker keywords at the bottom so you just know this ins’t an easygoing car-guy looking to sell his car to another enthusiast – dollars to donuts he’s a insufferable jerk that “knows what he’s got” and there’s a FJB sticker on the back of that…
This past weekend I learned to not give much value to the reviews. We looked at several 3 row suv’s and where extremely un impressed with the Palisade and Telluride (reviews love them?) We LOVED the CX-90.
