I wonder how much CO2 is produced when, say, casting the block of the 5.0L Coyote engine?

Engineering Explained went over this. IIRC the conclusion is always an EV will cut emissions within just a couple years vs even “your existing” ICE vehicle.

Oil is too cheap so it has messed up the entire EV equation. We have been waiting 50 years for oil to really get into short supply oil and expensive. So let’s look at the numbers.

The answer is “Yes, EVs produce lower carbon emissions than gas in any realistic scenario.” The only reason people in big lifted pickup trucks coal-rolling EVs are asking is because suddenly they care oh so much about the environment?

As raw material prices go up, recycling will become economically feasible.

Or, governments should fulfill one of their purposes of existence and use legislation to tip the scales of the “free market”.

Recycling is already happening and there is a lot of tech and research going into making the process better and more ubiquitous.  It will have a major role.

You say you honestly want to know, however, it seems like you really just want to nitpick numbers that are spoon fed to you that support your current mindset. The truth is that you’re asking for answers that can’t reasonably reported accurately because there isn’t an accurate way to measure the “social impact of the

I dont care if the total emissions dont currently measure less than overall ICE cars.  They decrease my local emissions and I can leave the house every day with a fully charged car.  Never having to go to a gas station again is an incredible feeling.

I honestly want to know

If you think articles and videos like this are going to settle the argument, read a few of the comments here.

Most large batteries like those in EVs are already sent off to have most of the materials recycled. Small batteries like those in laptops, phones, tablets, and tools are already sent for recycling as well.

This might not fully fit your request but it could be a good start.

It will be interesting to see how battery recycling will factor into this in the future. Probably a number of years away but the ability to recycle these materials could help as well if that process is less fossil fuel dependent than the mining process.

It hasn’t been based on the Titan for a long time. The Armada is a detuned version of the global Y62 Patrol and its very good. We get a wimpy version here, but the overseas version is legit. Also, the pathfinder has been on again off again unibody and frame, and only occasionally based on the frontier.

Seems like such a no-brainer to make a D41 wagon and spread that production cost out. They ought to probably redesign the rear suspension to be 5 link instead of leafs, but that’s not the toughest challenge in the world. Then just wagonize that D41 body, shorten the chassis and boom. Xterra. It would give the world

Armada is no good though. That’s based on the Titan - way too big to compete with the 4Runner. At the moment, I don’t think Nissan has any Frontier-based or body-on-frame SUV in any of its markets. They have the new Pathfinder, but that’s unibody and not Frontier-based like the old Pathfinders were.

I wasn’t sure what it was called outside Europe, so I found Nissan’s global site where it says “Nissan Patrol/Armada”, so, yes, it’s the same vehicle.

Nissan wants in on the offroad market?

Like a patrol but smaller and cheaper plug in hybrid on 35 with lockers and NO plastic cladding and a 300 pound dynamic load roof rack.

Dad with glasses here also - and I will turn ON the dome light if my kids or wife needs to find something - it is not THAT bad... I can deal with it for a short time.
