Great idea. Gogoro has been doing this since what, 2015? These swap stations were everywhere... outside many a 7-11. Glad to see Honda leading a similar course. Of course, the two sizes are close, but not the same size. Argh...
We had a FIAT 500E. Maybe it’s the guts from that.
True that. When I lived in Germany, there was a guy with a yellow (everything but the tires, it seemed) CJ7 with all the EU requirements for federalization. It was cool to see.
This is a sweet electric CJ6 (hat tip for the steelies). You gotta start somewhere, especially with taking advantage of the full engineering only an OEM can offer (as opposed to me and the kids wiring up some batteries in the garage).
The low volume companies get one more year.
Looks out to Europe and Asia - how did the Chinese and Europeans (not just the Norwegians) solve this?
“Smaller windows.”
This.
True, weight kills.
There are rumors of a Prime (PHEV) version coming in a year or so.
This. So much this.
Totally. There was some car review recently about the test driver having to slide over in the seat to see out past the pillars while driving on a twisty road.
True. That being said, at some point, I’d take the additional risk in exchange for actual driving enjoyment and outward visibility.
I’d love one of these if Porsche’s Exclusive Program could lower the beltline by about four inches around the entire car.
I love articles like this. We are one of the few people on the planet who off-road our Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It serves as the family station wagon 95% of the time and handles fire roads, rock, sand, and clay spots, and fords creeks 5% of the time.
Love the low profile, off-road tires. /s
With is the Crown Prime coming to the U.S.? What will its range be?
Job posting: outward visibility engineer.
Don’t forget the higher beltlines and thicker pillars, all in the name of safety.
