Unfortunately there isn’t much distinction from the rest of the mainstream United States in most of Kentucky. We have cities, suburbs, restaurants and stores and it’s not that different. The reason you see Appalachian Kentucky on TV is that it is still mostly country, and the people are mostly country, and it is

You can run your own server if you wish... with a password. Then you are alone with your thoughts and pure PvE for you and your friends. Works great for at least 8 players on 5Mbit upstream with one of those players being local. Does take a powerful separate machine however. First gen i7 can handle it.

I do grow a garden each year and might I add that homegrown tomatoes are to die for... and the chipmunks that stole my last two over the weekend might, but even with the amounts of squash I can grow and a few other items, that’s a lot of effort and watering to get a return for a couple months each year. I’ll assume

Get punched in the eye a lot do you? ;)

Yeah, stores near me always have chicken breasts for $1.99/lb which is the same price as tomatoes (not those fancy organic tomatoes mind you, just the regular ones) and other veggies are often quite pricey too. Now, frozen veggies can be had for much cheaper, but there is poor selection in what can be had from the

Well, this started the day Firefox updated with the default Flash blocking enabled. The black box fades in but the video does not play and I am not presented with a “enable Flash?” but rather just a black box over top of the photo or video at the top of the page.

Actually, it seems this is the culprit... and since Flash is disabled it’s not actually playing the video I guess, just showing me the background that’s black, over top of the image.

I too am a developer, but I was being lazy and just letting the Kinja team figure it out for themselves because they don’t pay me for

Perhaps it has to do with Firefox’s new default Flash blocker? Maybe the background is part of the Flash file (I’ve seen that before, using a Flash setting in the embed to make the background transparent, which would fail here) and that’s what’s going on.

I am running stock Firefox. No plugins or adblockers other than what might be built into Firefox. Perhaps it has to do with Firefox’s new default Flash blocker? Are you saying “delivered” might have been a better term to use?

Why do I have a black square over the first main image of every article on the various sites here? Is that some placeholder for the popover ads that randomly appear, which is not being made transparent for some reason in Firefox or my particular instance of it?

Cobra Strike!

Wait, wasn’t Kotaku supporting a Kickstarter for a low-budget game (

Wait... a former CEO deying that there was any wrongdoing? That doesn’t sound familiar at all. At least she didn’t have her hand in car manufacturing I guess.

And that Supra could have been the Nissan 300Z NA as it too had the same horsepower and was quite heavy.

So do you cook the bacon first or grind raw bacon?

I have several friends that have gone through some tribulation in their lives and turned to religion, immediately becoming hateful, bigoted people, completely not how they were before finding their faith. It’s quite scary and depressing really.

I didn’t see this covered under blanching, but blanching chopped onion will both remove the strong smell (which was covered for other foods) and the strong aftertaste of the onion if, say, you are making salsa or another dish that calls for onion with an uncooked texture or taste, but would otherwise give a strong

I find that the tactic used by your teacher is a really good way to hook your students in to your class. Even if you do teach them things they will never use, if they feel that you aren’t going to waste their time, they will focus more on what you are teaching. I’ve seen it time and again and the students always seem
