A FREAKING MEN.

I say yes, partially b/c that’s the current market value for 987.1 non-S models with the stick at that mileage and with some “roll the dice” maintenance moments. I’d undoubtedly get a PPI first and, if it turned up something potentially catastrophic, re-think my decision.

Now playing

I’ve wanted to ride the new Trail 125 the second I learned that it was coming to the US. That desire has absolutely NOT weakened after watching Zack and Ari ride up Alaska on one (and its vintage ancestor):

This is an AMAZING piece, and that sensation you described of having to be entirely “in the moment” at every moment is precisely why I, someone with ADHD, love motorcycles. Because there is no room for anything—anxiety, depression, distraction, anger—in my head; the voices are silent.

...I had honestly not thought about this angle ever. But dang, that’s brilliant.

My car passion really ignited in high school out of a desire to make eco-friendly fuels so cars could still drive around. It’s also why I studied chemical engineering, so I could help make that fuel.

Oh man, that SportClassic...

X150 Jaguar XK/XKR.

Good to know, but I’d like to finish my Abarth build first

Excellent write up Kyle. And now my search for a 996 begins again

I was going to say Volvo V60 Polestar, but they’re out of budget. But going along with the hot hatch idea, I’d say last-gen Volkswagen Golf R with a stick. The EA888 engine is stout, it’s got AWD grip, and is decently fun while still being comfortable when you need it. And I found one in that’s just within budget:

I second the 500 Abarth. Just finished putting some chassis braces and a stiffer rear torsion bar on mine, and it’s hilarious fun

I’m glad you and Lalita enjoyed the Janus bikes! I’ve ridden both and was amazed at how light and approachable they were. And the new 450 solves the few niggling issues I had with the 250 while still keeping the ‘this feels like a big bicycle in the best way’ feeling.

Oof, Jeebus, I’m sorry you’re having to deal with all this financial BS. Here’s hoping this all gets resolved and that you do get to enjoy the FTR, it’s a lot of fun!

Can someone check if the Ever Foward’s crew has been hitting the Everclear?

While I agree with Collin’s Maserati suggestion, I’d also like to add in the Maserati GranTurismo and the Chevrolet SS. The 2013-and-later GranTurismos with the ZF automatics are fairly reliable if they’re regularly driven. And the SS is a big, American, RWD V8 sedan—’nuff said.

I rode the Honda Rebel 1100 with the DCT recently, and I really liked the bike and the transmission.

If you’re just staring out at as a rider, I’d recommend starting small-capacity at first. If it’s within budget, I’d recommend a Kawasaki Z400, Honda Rebel 500, or Royal Enfield Himalayan. If you want something with a bit more performance, a KTM Duke 390 or Husqvarna Svartpilen/Vitpilen 401 is a solid choice, too.

Very cool story, thanks for writing this! Based on what you saw, learned, and tasted, what do you think separates--apart from clout--the meals served at a three- or two-star place compared to a one-star one?

Firstly, good on you for securing the Treats. And secondly, it’s odd to hear about the Yugo being the unbroken back-up car.
