They are in a slow death as it is. The fall of that city to ISIS will be a far worse fate than carpet bombing.

According to RT (I know, I know) there are 2,200 ISIS fighters surrounding that town. Seems to me that the Russians could helicopter in some Syrian troops and have aircraft on station for air support. Should be able to clean this mess up in a day or two.

Yeah, so what is wrong with carpet bombing? ISIS? I think cluster bombing ISIS positions would be pretty efficient as well. Heavy bombing followed by helicopter gunships to clean up any survivors would be effective. I think the terrain in the area would be well suited for these tactics.
