It’s even more misleading suggesting the IRA had anything to do with it. The IRA passed in AUGUST. Let’s do the math about how long it takes to plan, build, and get a factory operational before we start jumping to wild conclusions.

This thing is ugly AF. You might not be able to wait to pick up your kids with it, but your kids are going to ask you to meet them down the street and around the corner so none of their friends will see them getting into it.
Interesting plus now I know why Ionis just jacked up all my web domains 3 bucks each.
Spark being number 2 is pure voyeurism, but a letdown for everyone who expected it to not do as well as Wrangler.
I’d like to see non-metallic paints in more colors and I’d like to see some reds, metallic or non-metallic, that have a blue undertone vs. an orange undertone. Think cherries or plums instead of tomatoes.
Part of their plan, or it’s hideous and overpriced.
2nd gear - Gargantuan luxury EVs with mind-boggling curb weights like GM’s Hummer means pedestrian and cyclist deaths are going to get worse before they get better, and anyone in a normal car that tangles with one isn’t going to be much better off.
I just hope rotary doesn’t get lumped into an “oh, it didn’t sell” or “nobody wanted it” mindset because they are pairing it with a vehicle that can’t possibly succeed due to the limited range.
I thought this was 100% BS from the get-go, just a money grab to go after a big company. I’ve wondered if both parties cooked the scheme up together because why else would they let the HPV-giver off the hook so easily?
People are willing to accept a maw that looks like the cow-catcher from a steam-locomotive when they don’t have to pay as much for it. I never really considered Lexus, Acura, Infiniti and the now long defunct Amati as luxury makes, but as near-luxury. Designer imposters if you will, with heavy doses of badge…
Came here to say that. Nothing else about the cars seems luxurious, and the styling on all of them aside from Model S is basic verging on spartan. And Model S is getting pretty long in the tooth.
The inmates are truly in control of the asylum at this point.
Newer Mercedes have a distinctly lackluster appearance but this is from the era where there’s no doubt what it is from any angle. The light biscuit colored seats are very handsome too. I would have to do a bit of research about reliability but if that checks out, NP.
I thought the lead in photo for this article was a KIA.
Oh gosh, maybe read the Intercept article that quotes the driver?
NP. Vintage car styling married to modern Toyota reliability, what’s not to love here? I might want to spend a wee bit more to get a somewhat cleaner example, but this is a car I have given way too much thought to.
I agree, the price points where the credit equalizes the ICE vs. EV decision is where its the most impactful and that $40 to $50 range is probably the sweet spot.
Was the Inflation Reduction Act this confusing before Joe Manchin got his coal-covered, Maserati-flavored fingers all over it?
Older Rolls have designs that will never go out of style. Things were going great until Camargue, which was the beginning of the end of pretty Rolls Royces.
5th gear - It’s Türkiye now. And I have no idea where one gets the ü unless it’s copied and pasted from somewhere else.
