I’m not sure what he’s complaining about here.

No. This just wouldn’t work because stocks have no realized value until you sell them. This is particularly true if you have equity into buying them where you need to calculate the difference in purchase and sale price to conclude capital gain (or loss), but also if you’ve been granted them as compensation. Because

This is why the paragraph on Bezos is misleading. The $127B increase in his net worth is largely unrealized gains and is not taxed. His true tax rate was most definitively NOT 1.1%. It was, however,  fairly low at 21.5%.

What? Everyone does this. If I’m holding stock in 2018 and don’t sell it that year, I don’t claim realized gains or losses in 2018. Musk hit a stock price milestone at Tesla in 2018 and was granted stock options north of $2 billion (valuation at the time of granting). But because he’s CEO and because they were stock

Wealth isn’t taxed, income is taxed.

Slender Man’s kinkier brother. Yes.

They just need to turn it up a notch.

Yet, the amount of people I see on the road holding a phone up to their head in a car that clearly has bluetooth capability is staggering.

Time to step into parent corner and talk about LATCH. Back in the day, child seats would simply loop the lower lap restraint through a little slide area, and that’s how you kept a baby safe.

The thing is, there were no shortages in Florida.”

I am a “pay cash for everything” guy, but I don’t try to change the minds of folks who finance cars.

I understand that the price point might deter people away from the Apple TV, but I’ve been an Apple TV user for years. In the set-top streaming box market, pay a little extra and get a good experience.

Ford sells over a million trucks per year. It is blatantly obvious that they’re building trucks people want to buy. What you want will never happen for the price you demand with today’s safety regulations. Ever.

If if you really want a comparison that speaks volumes, look at a brand new truck next to one from even as recently as 15 years ago.

I was just stunned to see a heavy duty diesel truck for under $35K. Now that’s about $54K in 2020 dollars so it still seems a bargain in the world of $80K HD trucks.

What I think the real moral of the story here is the guy who was hoarding all those parts, but died before doing anything with them (using them or selling them).

I’ll say it again, the internet is the beginning of the end of us. Pre-social media, YouTube, and whatever flavor of the month video app is popular; these people would have no outlet and no reason to make this video. Today it is “lets see what stupid thing I can record to get followers and views”.

Sure doesn’t. It also lacks a cassette drive, a tape backup, an ADB port, an analog radio chip, nor any other thing that no other high end phone has had for a while now. If you want a 3.5mm you can use a Lightning to 3.5mm, same as before.

It’s 2020 grow up.
