Not really. Basic income will only cover your most basic needs. It will be only enough to dissuade you from robbing and stealing to fulfill your most basic needs for food and shelter. But you will still need to work to purchase extra stuff and achieve some social status above that of what’s now a homeless person.

Isn’t that the utopia that was promised? That we wouldn’t need to toil endlessly at mundane jobs and instead be allowed to pursue our dreams and interests without fear of being destitue?
