Or... and hear me out here... this kind of giving should be built into our tax system in an equitable way and properly apportioned to social services so that nobody has to suffer through living on the most impoverished budgets.
Giving $50 to a human being who needs it is a better use of your money than buying a $250 glass of scotch. If you can comfortably afford to do the latter, than there is no reason not to do the former. It’s as simple as that.
I’ve often wondered what it would take for Salty to recommend tipping less than 20%. I remember one from way back where the server rolled their eyes at the guest’s grandmother (who from the story apparently hadn’t said anything offensive or rude) and Salty still recommended a 20% tip.
If you can afford $250 a slug, then it is even more important that you tip generously. Forget 20%, you should be tipping 50% at least. You parasitical rich bastard. The 1% are the cheapest douchebags on the planet.
