Yes, exactly. The helmet may have saved his head from impacting... well, whatever he hit, but it didn’t stop his brain from impacting his skull - therefore, concussion. And if you’ve had one before, you’re more vulnerable to them later.
Even with a helmet, he still got a concussion. I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty sure those are bad for people who had previously been in a coma. And the cumulative effect can’t be good. Hopefully he doesn’t forget this entire year.
True - these things are cumulative in their effect, despite Hammond’s previous recovery. I suspect he would’ve been wearing a helmet. He’s a serious rider, and he’s always worn a helmet on two wheels on screen before (motorcycle or bicycle). But even then, bouncing the head around even without external injury isn’t…
