It costs a great deal of money to be poor in America.

Recently took our XC60 up a rough road to a trailhead. Boy was I happy about the ground clearance. I was impressed some people got standard road cars up there, but there’s no way they didn’t scrape 100 times on the way there...
The problem is keeping it under thirty isn’t the challenge. Can you keep it under twenty?
When I was a kid in Upstate NY we handled the rude tourists with “helpful” instructions. The adults would send people to places like exit off the Northway (remember when that went nowhere instead of to Troy?)
Does not sound like you have been to Scotland lol, the cops are few and far between. 99% of traffic enforcement is via camera’s.
Now, now. Given that he was a black-out drunk, it’s possible he’s telling the truth.
As a person who, quite immaturely, still punches friends when i see a Beetle; i assure you that you are incorrect. I see them all the time in NYC and/or Tri-state area.
Oh, they do build it like that...

Er, actually, adjusted for inflation a modern 911 is the cheapest it’s ever been.
I miss the old days, when high school kids could buy a new Porsche with the money they made during their summer job...
Whatever 911 you drove first was the best 911 - it just works that way. For me it was a 1987 Turbo with a whale tail.

Along with your attitude, you’ve pretty much described every new version of every model car that’s been around for more than 10 years—with the except of the Miata, of course—making your point... pointless.
I think blaming Porsches being overpriced on VW is misguided. Porsche is Porsche. VW isn’t dictating transaction prices to them against their will. And they’ve always been about brand snobbery. Maybe the owners weren’t as bad back in the day, but this idea that they used to be an “everyman” sort of car is just silly.
It’s funny how, for as far back as I can remember, the last “real” 911 has always been the one before the one currently on sale.
Porsche guys just like to complain. When the “short hood” 911s came out, they complained about the ugly bumpers. The 964s were heavy, leaky and too complex. The 993s had ugly headlights; at least until the Boxsters and 996s came out, then that was quickly forgotten as they had better things to complain about like no…
They’re saving that for the Turbo so they can charge $50,000 for the option.
