“they don’t get sent down to tripe-A”
Well I had a baby ten minutes before Monday was over. The placenta decided to rip itself away from my uterus in some sort of attempt to kill us both. That was the least fun I’ve ever had, but fortunately my intuition brought me to the hospital an hour earlier.
America was never as good as you previously thought it was, and it’s not as bad as you currently think it is.
You have to admire their staunch opposition to changing tradition. They’re even going to go as far as not winning a World Series for the 70th season in a row.
I mean, sure it looks bad but we should really wait for the New York Times to interview these people to see if they’re sad about a steel mill closing.
At Least We Don’t Live In Cleveland
Now that the Red Sox and both Chicago teams have won Series’ recently we really need a fun name for Cleveland’s struggles that’ll bring back some of that fun Billy Goat-Bambino stuff that Baseball’s so good at.
This is horrific, what these families are going through
Awful story
This is an unspeakable tragedy not only for the players and their loved ones, but for the small community itself. In small town Saskatchewan, our hockey teams are our backbone, and the local rink is the hub of all activity. I’m hoping against hope that Humboldt finds a way to come together to rally around each other…
regarding the top story....
The alternative is to be the NFL and have 15 fucking tiebreakers lined up (ending with a coin flip, natch). The NFL *has* to do that, though, because playing another game of football is not a viable solution. The NHL didn’t bother to address this vanishingly unlikely scenario until it became somewhat possible, and…
McGregor lasted six rounds with the greatest boxer in the world. Not like he embarassed himself up there.
We can’t possibly know that. McGregor might have started out without the power to push over a Jenga tower. Getting him to where he could punch hard enough to bruise fruit might have been a huge accomplishment. And teaching him to stop saying “pow” with every punch was pretty much a miracle.
What makes you think McGregor wasn’t paid to fuck up this event? The UFC doesn’t seem to be going after him very hard.
Every time I see that header gif, I’m reminded of this:
Lobov is also a good enough boxer that ... he helped train McGregor for his fight with Floyd Mayweather this summer.
Might I direct you here, because I asked a similar question (though not as obviously naively as you):
It’s not being delivered by commentators, or labeled as an editorial. It’s being read by local news anchors and not differentiated from the news content. It also takes away time that can be spent covering local issues. In any proper news operation, the publishers, or station owners, dictate editorial positions and…
I’ve been reading about Sinclair’s “segments” since last year, and I was always under the impression that they’d be pre-packaged segments that the local affiliates would cut away to for a few minutes. While that would still be bullshit, but I would hope that the average viewers would be able to parse out the…
So, I agree that attacking the media has been part of Trump’s strategy, and I agree that statements like that can be used as part of that strategy to delegitimize newsgathering in general, but if I had no other information about Sinclair (if I hadn’t seen the Last Week Tonight bit, for example) I actually wouldn’t…
