All the stars...

The problem with your thinking is that people aren’t “racing” their dream cars. Most of them will spend very little time outside their garages.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

Anything that does away with the left wing is good by me.

Sad if true, but check to see if any of the Clintons are involved first.

You had me on your side until you mentioned Fiat.

“Large portions of the unibody had rusted away, and the right rear strut tower was “patched” with booger welds and some random metal (a couple of large washers, and what appeared to be an alternator bracket). It wasn’t worth fixing.”

Last year I saw a craigslist ad (where else?) for a 97 Mazda Protege in great condition for $850. The ad said he poured all these tune up parts into it but it still wouldn’t start. I was kinda interested but replied telling him it was probably the timing belt and it might be an easy fix (non-interference motor) for

“This is why the better solution is to focus on being as carbon neutral as possible by requiring gradual blending of synthetic gasoline and diesel every year for 2 decades until the fuel is 100% renewable.

Your point:

All the stars.

Firstly, you defy Jalopnik guidelines by bringing researched facts into the conversation. I think I love you.

Your second point is spot on. The VAST majority of California is isolated. Once you get a hundred miles from the ocean and it thins out pretty fast.

So, I’m kinda with you on some of your points. I would also like to have an EV knowing that it fills 95% of my driving needs. But, requiring that it goes coast to coast makes me wonder how often that happens for you or for most people. If you take that long trip just once or twice a year isn’t it workable to own the

Trump was right about building a wall, wrong about it’s location.

Flew Ryan Air from Germany to Rome. Flight was inexpensive and ok but it cost almost as much to bring 2 bags as it was one of the seats. Oh, and if you don’t pre-print your boarding pass they will charge you 80Eu - at least this was the case in 2012. I saw a group of 3 college students lose it at the ticket counter

You think someone painted over those dents?

Programmed by the oil companies - yes, by the auto industry - not so much.

You forgot to mention that they also came in all-wheel drive models. Almost bought one.

This all sounds great but I have to wonder if this technology will tolerate fuels with varied ethanol ratios. Looking at the power and torque chart with the different RON numbers makes me think the motor is sensitive to octane (as you would expect in a compression ignition engine) and might be affected by ethanol.
