Also the gender imbalance isn’t the only issue. With aging populations the work force will shrink in the coming years so less workers to keep the economy graowing. Add to that with little or no social safety net many of those single men will aged parents and possible grand parents to care for.

Plot twist- Women with multiple husbands becomes an accepted practice.

Japan’s population is plummeting for similar reasons—not a one child policy, but most women who have broken their backs competing in business/academics aren’t about to chuck it all and just be baby/pamper machines the way society dictates. Amazingly, this isn’t working out for the guys so well!
