8oz is for people that like to ‘taste’ coffee.

It could a typo, and they meant four pots.

Well, I think the original measure for a “cup” of coffee was 5 oz., then maybe 6 oz. The measures on a drip coffeemaker are probably 5-6 oz. A standard mug (the kind that have saying on them, etc.0 is 12 oz.
