Think you pretty well have it. When designing a car for mass production, there is a list of variables that need to be met. Power, efficiency, reliability, emissions, manufacturing cost; it’s a balance. To add to one you generally subtract from the others. That said, a “stage 1" tune from most vendors tend to only dip

Modifying the ECU in any way changes a checksum that cannot be reverted. Even if you flash it back to stock, the dealership will know.

Maybe it wasn’t intentionally stolen. Someone just drove off in the wrong one.

Dear Jalop-so-called-nick...

Now playing

I still adore the video of Justin Bell driving Matt Farah’s foxbody. As someone in the comments said, “He’s making race car noises while driving a race car.”

Those things are diabolical. My mother has one and also keeps her unopened mail on an end table. I’ve watched it ram the end table until the mail fell off, and then immediately attempt to eat the mail.

Absolutely should buy a V8 swapped CJ from someone who can’t figure out how focus on a camera works.

No thanks. Weed just makes me sleepy.

Yeah, agreed. I was mainly implying that paying $5000 more than sticker of an M2 for an 1M is further overpaying, but it seems that some people prefer the 1M more.

Good to know. I’ve only ever driven the M2 and rather enjoyed it. To be fair, not $54,000 enjoyed it, though.

Based on the majority of comments I’ve read here over the years, I would think it is more common for a Jalop to be frugal (or perhaps patient) and let other people take the initial depreciation hit or pay markup than not. Not to say either option is wrong.

I don’t know. That blue on a brand new M2 for $5000 less.

Wytep?

I suspect that you were experiencing the engine pulling timing due to funky knock and gimmicky overboost settings on the stock tune. It honestly has nothing to do with not being twin-turbo, but rather Subaru trying to be clever and pesky reality getting in the way. If your friend has modified the tune, it’s odd to

Even stock FA20s have issues with heat when taken to the track. There isn’t anywhere for the heat to evac from the engine bay. Prior to going FI, adding an oil cooler (and perhaps larger radiator) is all but a requirement.

You made a mistake, you owned it. This is a good attitude about such things to have.

I was looking for a Lord of the Rings themed Corvette and found this instead:

Depending upon the project car, that may be the less expensive option as well.

I’m no Tesla fanboy, but I am wondering if the outside door release is mechanical and they’re ignoring that in favor of the sensationalism of crawling out the trunk. Relying on the driver or passenger to be calm enough to open the rear doors in the state of a severe crash is still a terrible idea, but at least
