As the owner of a salvage 2005 S55 AMG that was hit hard enough to set off the airbags but not damage the frame, I say run as far away from crashed cars as you can. Flood cars are a MUCH better deal. Once a car has been hit like that it is nearly impossible to get it 100% fixed.

How about that $1200 suspension valve.....

I’ve been reading jalopnik for years but rarely comment. I have to say these buyer’s guides are flooding jalopnik and considering they are just boring, regurgitated info from each car’s website, I wish they would stop.

I’ve owned 2 turbo mini coopers (an S and a JCW) and they are some of the most difficult cars to drive manual in I’ve ever experienced. For some reason the lack of low-end torque or super light clutch pedal or dual-mass flywheel make them almost impossible to get off the line smoothly and I still struggle with the 1-2

Subaru Impreza. Break off STi/WRX into a specific performance make, selling the BRZ, WRX, STi (wagon and hatch), and some SUV/Forester STi. Subaru already said they want the WRX and STi to be somewhat distinguished from the Impreza, so it wouldn't be unreasonable. Make it like Lexus to Toyota.

Yeah I couldn't find conclusive evidence that it was that big of an issue on the 997s. 996s and early boxters though? Huge problem.

I looked for a 996 for a long time but bought a 997 because of the IMS. What you haven't included in your explanation here is that to change the IMS bearing the engine and trans have to come out. That means new clutch, fluids, gaskets, etc. Its not a $900 fix, its like a $4500 fix (yes, I priced it at MANY shops). And

Nevermind. Googled it:

Can someone explain a cockpit adjustable rear sway bar? How does that work?

RIP

Any subaru wrx has the entire engine and the front half of the trans infront of the front axle.

100k/60 month powertrain warranty FTW.
