I never spent too much time in West Palm, that must explain it. I don't know why I always grew up thinking Cracker Barrels only existed in North Florida and above. Maybe because we only went to them on road trips?

True! But even that can bite you in the ass or surprise you, as we all know.

At my restaurant we have to sign a slip every night with out checkout to basically verify that we put in all tips correctly, though I don't think they check every slip unless someone calls back with a discrepancy. I take the chance with the blank slips because if I can read the imprint then they obviously intended to

I forgot about brunch! For some reason I was thinking regular breakfast shifts, I guess since my restaurant doesn't do brunch and I haven't worked a brunch shift in years. You are totally right! Brunch, especially in my city (picture that one episode of Portlandia) is a total shit show and the absolute hardest shift

I said not all!! And for the record, youngin's often tip terribly too. When I see people my age I know it's a hit or miss. Luckily most youths can't afford find dining. But I will never forget the 2-6 tops that would come into Outback Steakhouse and split a single plate of cheese fries- extra bacon extra cheese,

I lived in South Florida my entire life and I never knew there was a Cracker Barrel there.

Okay, they totally do this in Atlanta too. Thankfully not where I work since we are a small and diverse staff if decent human beings. But when I first moved here I worked a Schmoutback Schmeakhouse and even my fellow black coworkers used the term. I was super confused the first time someone told me "sucks for you, you

It's because people give men/dudebros extra kudos for just having basic human decency. Man, my autocorrect did NOT want to let me type "dudebros."

WTF?! So did I! But maybe that's not saying much since I also have a Deathly Hallows tattoo and often picture Harry Potter characters. Now I sort of wish it was a Norwegian Ridgeback instead of a puppy! Oh well.

That reminded me of the movie Devils Knot. Not that one has anything to do with the other, but because I just watched it and it shows an entire town try to sentence a few kids with life in prison because they are goth, basically. The worst part is that it is based on a true story. It's actually a great movie even

Yesss!!!

It doesn't matter how much money you earn. If you can't afford to tip you can't afford to eat out. Rarely is the bad tipper a clearly impoverished person who scraped together money for a sandwich and coffee and can't afford to tip. Those people always tip. The non-tippers are more like the Patron guy mentioned above.

I do the same thing! Any table I assume will tip poorly I take as a personal challenge to give the very best service I can, that way I know they have no excuse. And this has nothing to do with race. It's usually based off of the way people are behaving the second they walk in the building, how they treat the hostess

Yeah, it shouldn't matter, degree or not. Most of the servers I work with are in the process if getting their masters or have already graduated. Who cares, they are still human beings. Degrees don't amount to shit when it comes to the meaning of life. Irrelevant, basically.

A guy once said to me "I know you're just a waitress, but do you think you can figure out how to split the bill between TWO credit cards?" He asked me this very slowly and condescendingly. I responded by saying, "Well it's something I've never done before, so I'll have to ask my manager for help, but between the three

That's sad that she never came back. Unless, was it fairly obvious that she suspected you or the other staff members?

Ive never filled it in myself, just entered it on the computer, based on the imprint on whatever copy they left. This is what management told me to do since clearly they intended to leave that tip but just took the wrong copy. That is why these days in upscale restaurants servers are instructed to add an extra step

And breakfast servers have shorter hours and require much less knowledge and formal service than night time servers. Some people's personal codes they tip by boggle my mind.

Good thing the server had to suffer for your mistake.

Nope, you're correct. Older white women often (but of course #notallolderwhitewomen) are the worst. They do the most subs and mods, probably according to whatever new diet Dr. Oz or The View is peddling.
