BINGO. usually surge updates every couple of minutes. In the middle of large surges you might be able to get away with sneaking into the times where it drops before it picks up again. Unless it’s a huge holiday wait ten minutes and you can get it cheaper.

So, it’s now the fault of the company providing the service, that the user of said service accepted certain parameters, then blamed their inability to read and understand, on the company providing a service.

Here’s my guess as to what actually happened. She set a short trip and accepted the surge pricing (which holy shit, x7.8? Why would you even accept that?) then added 93 miles to the trip either unaware or intentionally ignorant of the fact that the extra 93 miles would also be subject to the surge pricing. I’m just

Yeah, it tells you what the multiplier is, and the estimated total charge. Rider is totally at fault here.

There’s a great big pop-up that you have to acknowledge, telling you what the surge rate is. She had to actively ignore it in order to be surprised.

I fully believe that the charges were there, she didn’t notice them, and now wants to change the deal. Here is how this works. If there is a huge demand, at a bad time, or in a bad location, the ride is highly undesirable (from the driver perspective). To entice a driver to pick up the passenger, the Uber matching

Rider is 100% responsible. It is extremely obvious that you are accepting surge pricing in the app. Uber used to hide it a bit, but you can’t accept a ride without seeing the surge pretty much in bold letters now. Also, she “added” a 93 mile detour to the airport after getting in the car...that sounds more than a bit

In the Uber app, there’s a huge fucking WARNING that says surge pricing is in effect. I can’t recall if it specifies just how much impact it will have though, because most of my business travel is in shitholes where no one else cares to go.

Uber and Lyft both get to somewhat skirt the rules, but paying attention to the surge prices before even confirming a ride will eliminate the “I had no idea about the price” issue.

Counterpoint: We have Trump BECAUSE of Hillary.

Wait, Democrats were banking on Libertarians to vote for them? Holy shit, a strategy dumber than the one they actually used!

This 15 minutes is taking too fucking long.

For Audi, VIN stands for Vehicles w/ Identical Numbers

Oh whatever, plebe...everybody knows BMW drivers always have Right of Way.

After a thorough investigation, police have determined that the cause of both crashes was gravity.

Unbelievable. She saw him backing up and still cut him off!

Was your friend Jake, or Elwood?

The extra air should put it out!

So, serious question: Why don’t $100-200k supercars with a reputation for external as well as internal combustion just come with a central halon system?
