Apple is not known for solid regression testing and often breaks legacy stuff. Knowing that, a developer that hasn’t abandoned a project should be testing that their stuff keeps working as Apple keeps messing with the foundation.

That’s a good point. The human body is designed such that it’s better at certain things and you should play to those strengths. Arms are designed to pull, not push. Legs are the other way around. Doing it your way allows them to do what they do best. As long as you don’t involve your back such a way that you tweak it.

Yeah, on the side of the road, all bets are off. Part of the reason I have a AAA membership…

This is a good take and definitely works. Squirt what you’re planning to take apart the night before. If you’re in a hurry, a squirt and then some tapping can help the oil work it’s way in.

I would caution against standing on wrenches and breaker bars. I stood on a breaker bar to back off a stubborn axle but once. My feet slid off it, as accidents are known to happen. All the energy stored in that now spring had to go someplace. In this case, it was into my shin. That was the day I learned the difference

I know a guy who had an XLR and an XLR-V. They were neat in that they were uncommon, but that really seemed to be it. He said he got them specifically because he liked having weird things other people tended not to. Not sure what he meant exactly, considering that I remember him having two or three different

The vernacular did kind of shift all at once, didn’t it. I mostly noticed it on Reddit and just assumed it bled over here.

Subaru seems uninterested in making competitive amounts of power for whatever reason. Having had several Subarus with various different 2.5L H4’s, I can say that they were all adequate, but I definitely could have used more. The FA24 really has me confused, though. 271hp out of a turbo 2.4L? Those are almost diesel

The best part is this is when they find out about it! Say dumb things, win dumb prizes!

…that’s all free speech is. The government can’t hold your expressed opinions against you except in certain very narrowly defined instances. But everybody else can. It’s not hard.

That was a different time. It’s very difficult to make a business case for a dedicated sports car platform. Cars like that don’t really sell, so there will never be a meaningful ROI. That’s why we’re seeing so many joint ventures.

To be entirely fair, I’ve owned a BMW for fifteen years and had to babysit two more modern ones for the last six or seven. They’re not as reliable as the rank and file Toyota for sure, but they’re not the late ‘70’s Alfas you’re describing.

Better on paper, sure. Thing is, that’s not what it’s about anymore. Manual transmissions usually make driving a car better even if it’s slower and more work. I’ve met very few cars that were improved by automatic transmissions and the few I did were truly bad to begin with.

BMW not offering manual transmissions anymore but Toyota, the great maker of the Beige Driving Appliance, putting them back into things they should go in?

The fact that you’re on here means you probably knew what you were doing. I’m sure you had your reasons.

I seriously doubt my roommate wouldn’t have taken $10k over new for his PT Cruiser even after knowing it was a halfway decent car. It wasn’t *that* good.

Absolutely, my good doctor!

Counter-counterpoint: The PT Cruiser, while looking like it fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down, wasn’t horrid once they revised it. My roommate for years had an ‘03. It drove okay and was deceptively useful in regards to how much stuff and how many people would fit in it. Really, the only

I know somebody who had a Cobalt SS Turbo who traded it in on a base model Ford Focus. I feel like cars like that were lost on people and that makes me sad.

I agree with these choices. Particularly the Aveo, though I don’t think they were trying to hide that it was a hateful shitbox. It seemed like they were only a breath from saying “for that much money, what exactly did you expect?”
