Yes, because defending apartheid and acknowledging that culture affects humour is totally the same thing. SMH.

He’s growing smarter with time, but has said some stupid shit in the past. I really don’t understand this thing on Jez sometimes that because a person has done/said something shitty a long time ago it means that they’re shitty people overall. Who exactly was born sensitive to all issues and never insulted anyone in…
Can people please stop with the linking of Michael Fassbender and actual known abusers like Sean Connery?
That is a gross over simplification of that joke that is quite long and layered - the bit it self was actually quite funny, the punchline less so. But he’s been doing that joke for a year or so, and I’m a bit surprised no one has told him it could have a far more clever ending.
I... don’t even know what to say?? I guess the culture of judgment has just been normalised to such an extent that people think this is normal?
Oh you guys do plenty of things well - but maybe when it comes to parental policy in general there’s some room for improvement ;) As there is in Denmark too for that matter.
I guess that’s people overall isn’t it? It’s just so unhelpful for everyone involved to aim for something so ridiculous. My philosophy has always been happy mom = happy baby. If you do have kids one day, please just surround your self with awesome people and stay clear of judgmental aholes :).
Congrats on the twins!!! That is so super duper exciting! A really good friend of mine just had twins and they are the most adorable two little girls in the world. Double trouble for sure, but also double the fun and awesomeness :)
Sweden is definitely ahead of Denmark when it comes to Gender Equality, but we are…
That is so crazy to me. Straight up - I could not be a good mom if I didn’t have “time off”. I love my kid, and he’s amazing, but I can’t just be with him 24/7. I need adult time and adult conversations. But I’ve honestly never even met a mom who didn’t agree, or didn’t need the same things. Maybe people are just…
As a non-American, this was a very interesting read to me. I have a 1 1/2 year old, and I can honestly not relate to any of this. Part of me is kind of scared that this is because I only hang out with alcoholics - but on a more serious note I think there are some significantly different cultural approaches to the…
There are certain situations where homeschooling is ok - I once had a friend who had a dangerous brain condition at had to be home schooled. But where I’m from that meant teachers coming to his house, not his parents teaching him.
Absolutely. Which is why the school’s decision is so utterly baffling, too. Them caving in to these outrageous demands is such a colossal failure of their students.
Parents honestly have far too many “rights” over their children. Why are children treated like parental property - I fundamentally do not understand that? It’s not just this, it’s also home schooling, anti-vaxxers etc. Surely a balance can be found between a parent’s right to raise their child but also society’s…
Perfection - thank you!! Analogies are really not my strong suit - and I don’t know why I keep thinking about Margaret Thatcher whenever I see Miley being whatever she’s being. Something’s wrong with me. Clearly.
I just really don’t get Miley. Like it’s not “sexy” but it’s super sexual - it’s a bit how I imagine it would be watching porn you’re really not into. Like you get that it’s supposed to do something to you but in the end it’s like watching two nuns wearing Margaret Thatcher masks getting it on and nothing…
OMG TIGER. DUH! That makes so much more sense now. I always used to laugh at “tee-guh”, because it sounds so much like the danish word for beggar/to beg which is “tigger”. Oh the irony.
Yup, pretty sure the baby would be dead 11 weeks overdue...
Awesome - thanks for your suggestions! I’ll have to check out The Hairpin.
Do you know any good alternatives to Jezebel? Once the changes are in I will probably be out - if I want gossip there's always people.com (so fuming about the changes)
Not quite true - most of them grow up in poverty stricken neighborhoods with high unemployment and petty crime as daily occurrences. Many get then radicalized in jails. These aren't middle class kids that are bored.
