Well I haven’t spoken to my mother in four and a half years. I walked away from the last sibling a year ago. It’s been delightfully freeing. Extended family was always low contact but I haven’t seen any of them either.

My dad married my stepmother when they were both around 60. A little more than a year later she died of cancer. I don’t know that she was “the one.” It was his third marriage. But love is always possible.
