That wonderful piece is actually one that’s been doing the rounds since May 2000 (it was even quoted on The West Wing!), and was written by a guy named Kent Ashcraft. It’s the perfect response to so much garbage that some religious conservatives spew, isn’t it?

Little bit of an Amazon hack, go find a DVD or video game or something that hasn’t come out yet and pre order it. It’ll count towards your price for the add on item. The add on will ship first, then since Amazon won’t charge you for the other item till it releases, just cancel the order on it.

Even more infuriating when you’re buying something again and it wasn’t an add-on item last time, and the price went up!

I'm not surprised - they tend towards shady bait and switch type tactics (as well as making it their policy to drive small business out of business - Bezos referred to it as a cheetah killing sick gazelles or something). This seems squarely in line with their M.O.
