I'm not entirely convinced of his innocence, but I AM convinced that there was way too much foul play by the prosecuting team, overwhelming courtroom bias, and there's at least as much evidence clearing him as there is pointing at him. The whole thing is horrible and very sad.

I disagree. I have VERY rarely thought the show wasted time - I think the character development is what has made it so great, and all of the "quieter" moments have added to that.
