It definitely is important if what you're eating leaves you feeling starved after three hours. Eating less should be an effect, not the focus.
The problem is that we can't directly control the "calories out" side. Everything from macronutrient ratios to meal regularity alters the "out" side. Add that to nutrients that are used for processes other than energy generation, alternate metabolic pathways, mitochondrial function, brown adipose tissue, satiety...…
That was my thought. This is effectively paleo.
But what causes you to burn more calories (outside of activity level)? What causes you to want to (and subconsciously) eat fewer calories? Energy intake and output are as much an effect as a cause.

That's my point. I'm not saying to cling onto the minority for the sake of it being the minority. I'm also saying to not cling onto the majority for the sake of it being the majority. Look at the situation as a whole and make your determination from that. To me it sounds like we don't disagree on anything.
