If I’m not mistaken, if it can only drive itself on 90% of roads, that’s not level 5 but level 4. Level 5 is 100% autonomous in all scenarios on all roads and parking lots. No steering wheel needed.

In such a busy city, how does one not notice the cacophany of noise coming through an open door and think the car is a bit louder than it should be while in motion?
If you mean how easy it is for consumers to do this to their own cars, I doubt it. I don’t see anyone doing this to a Mini they’ve purchased, and I doubt BMW does either.
If this were a consumer product, yes. This is just an experiment - a one-off. The environment cost of disposing of one car’s interior and paint is negligible.
Cork would hold up really well over time, exposure to sunlight, and such, but wouldn’t it get nicked and scratched very easily?
