I thought this was actually where he started to turn it around. IIRC (it's been a few years since I've seen this), this scene shows that he's not holding onto "things" as precious anymore, that he's more engaged in life and not waiting for some magical moment to start participating again. Think of how much it must suck for Sting, though — he's a fucking bellboy, but at least he's a badass at night (largely because of his moped). Then he comes back to it after another day of humiliation, and the bike is gone. That sucks.

I bought the Night Stalker DVD a while back. It's good, but… it doesn't quite hold up as well as you'd like. A LOT of filler on there — jokey banter with his editor and foppish dandy of a co-worker. But the episode with the headless motorcycle rider? That was awesome.
I dunno — maybe it's the great musicians and excellent songwriting. Could that be it?
I would say Summerteeth rocks better, not harder.
Well, for starters, it rocks. Can you say that about latter-day Wilco?
For me, it's that she beat out Ellen Burstyn for that Oscar years back.
