How’s this for a valid excuse: I have been daily driving an ‘06 Corolla (base model with automatic) for the past couple years. I bought it from my friend’s parents for $3k, solely because it was a huge leap forward compared to the 1991 Festiva 5MT that I had prior to it, which I sold for $2.5k. So for $500 I got a 15

I don’t have much to add here, however that 2nd picture is of Chris Duncan, not Jason Isringhausen.

Very much looking forward to reading more articles from you Maggie. Welcome aboard!

I can absolutely take the keys out of my ignition while the car is running/driving. Granted my car is also 22 years old..

I think it’s supposed to read “original-engine C5"

Remember to use the Strangler Flap on cold starts!

Good pick Tom!

Thanks for the lead, I’m in St. Louis. Almost landed one in TN a couple weeks ago, unfortunately I was 2nd in line & it sold to guy #1

Thanks, I know I’ll find one eventually, just have to be patient. Unfortunately the corolla is all I’ve driven since I got it, and I’m getting kinda stir crazy. My camaro has been under construction for the past 4 years, however I plan on putting some miles on it this summer!

This sounds exactly like me. I have owned an ‘06 corolla for the past year and a half, solely because my friend was selling it and I could upgrade from my ‘91 festiva for about $500. I’ve put 32k miles on it with nothing but a fresh set of tires and oil changes. It warms up crazy fast in the winter, the AC is ice

“Chrysler said you can cary 56 sheets of 4x8 plywood in there with all rear the seats down, which is impressive.”

Mate, you should do the Morning Jam everyday.. Another great pick!

I’ll take mine in blue with a wide white stripe and red fender hashes please!

Aside from that guy being an idiot.... are GTIs really only marginally faster than a 9th gen corolla?? Because I drive one of those corollas, and they are slow.

Star click for Roller Coaster Tycoon. Loved that game.

That second to last paragraph reminds me a lot of my girlfriend. I can’t for the life of me convince her to let me teach her how to drive in the snow. I tell her it’s a very important thing to know & you’ll never really ‘get it’ without a little experience. She has already had one accident where she plowed into a curb

I saw one with its signal on just this morning, and it stayed like that for a solid 2-3 miles! Poor lady probably bumped it & didn’t know how to turn it off.

Thank you Mate for gracing Jalopnik with this steaming pile of crap article. Having an opinion about certain cars is one thing, but holy cow, there are cars far far FAR more deserving of your hatred than the 4th gen F-Body..

How could the Firebirds/Trans Ams/Firehawks possibly have less interior space than the Camaros? They’re the exact same car. The interiors can be swapped between them with no problems.

I was shocked at those prices as well. I’m betting you could get an average beat one that runs and drives for 2500 or less, and good example for ~5-6k, and a cream of the crop for less than 10k. (I’m in the midwest)
