I have an issue with the idea that “trash talking” is perfomative. This presumes that we are able to compartmentalize emotion, which is not true. We can repress emotion, recognize it, then choose how to behave, but that’s hard to do.

Sorry to interrupt your rant, but I was there and nothing came within 1/5th the noise Stipe generated from the home crowd. The crowd noise the UFC pumps in the PPV is not in any way reflective of reality.

The F-16 has never “replaced” the A-10. The F-35 is supposed to be a replacement for the F-16, however the Air Force keeps adding additional things to the “F-35 can replace these” list in order to justify the cost for it.
