If I recall, they had to change their suppliers because of shortages. The fruit could be more bland and/or maybe they’re adding a filler to stretch what’s available.

The line is unclear. Initially I read it as, “not only were they dating, but it wasn’t just casual because they’d met each other’s families.” But it could also mean “they weren’t dating, but their families knew each other and they were friends.

This has always been my dream! I got close once when I dated a guy who lived in my apartment complex. It required no effort to see him and we regularly did overnights, but maintained our own spaces and didn’t have to argue over decor or any of the other little cohabitation stuff.  

They also would have included embryos created in IVF clinics, if they’re so sacred. But nope, just the ones that happen to be in the body of a woman.
