I think it’s a reaction to men’s rights mouth-breathers and Red Pillers who insist on referring to women and girls as“females” (noun). They use it as an objectifying and dehumanizing term. They call men ‘men’ and women ‘females.’

You’ve identified an important part of the #notallmen” issue. It’s not productive to use it to talk over women who are trying to voice their experiences.
