I don’t know about Tina’s non 30-Rock roles, but in that show, her scar was never this visible. It certainly wasn’t a part of the character (which is a good thing).

Men with obvious facial scars just get roles as tough guys or interesting people with hidden pasts. I can even think of a couple male actors with facial or neck tats that make a career of playing gangsters or criminals. Those options just don’t exist for women.

I got my first earrings 30 years ago when I was six. My mother would have fainted dead away if someone suggested she take me to a tattoo parlor. I don’t think dedicated piercing parlors even existed (certainly not in suburban Nebraska!). Hopefully the mainstreaming of tattoos and piercings will make tattoo parlors…

I don’t think she has it in her to have a meltdown. She’s got that condescending bad-teacher droning monotone that just slowly bulldozes a room. You get the sense that it’s pointless to challenge her, because she just deflects or repeats herself.

What else were you going to listen to when KROQ went to commercial?

It’s really creepy to look back and think about how much attention I got from middle aged men at 14-15. It feels like it was at least as much as I got in my twenties, if not more. Maybe my memory is faulty or I learned to ignore it more as I got older. But yuck.

I wonder about this too. Are these men so delusional that they build up totally normal interactions and convince themselves that they women are flirting and sending covert signals? I blame some of it on the toxic notion that women want sex from everyone but are “playing hard to get” and that it takes an aggressive man…

You are correct- The headline says recyclable and I didn’t read the third paragraph closely enough. But I agree with you about avoiding plastic altogether, the production isn’t sustainable either.

These are a nice try, but in reality an extremely small percentage of our recyclable plastic waste is actually recycled even if you put it in the correct bin. Because of the sheer volume of our plastic waste, a lot of it is just shipped to other countries to sit in their landfills.

I can’t imagine being in a coercive relationship and ending up the butt of jokes and derision for two freaking decades. It wasn’t just politicians and the media that tore her apart, it was everyone. People were downright nasty. But at least it was limited to TV and print— can you imagine if twitter had been around…
