Trashing your hobbies? What does that even mean?

Okay, be honest here; are you looking for suggestions, or pity?

Bullshit. This is what I mean by going through the motions but not really trying. There’s no way you’ve tried EVERYTHING.

Go see a therapist. Your depression and hopelessness and defeatism is loud and clear. You’ve already decided it’s a lost cause and you won’t hear otherwise.

If you can’t do it for yourself, do it

Use Meetup groups (or something similar) to find something you like, or get a new hobby.

Go to something with a hobby that you enjoy or want to try. Throw 8 random people together that have nothing in common (other than being single) and it’ll probably suck. Throw 8 people with a common interest together, and you’ll at least be able to have a conversation together.

Also see a therapist. They can help with

Going through the motions: you mention you went to Meetup groups, and were left with 8 people (I understand this number may be an generalization) but then what? You couldn’t strike up a conversation with any of those people? You didn’t find any common ground with them?

Meetup groups: are you going to hook-up meets? Are

It sounds like you need to see a therapist. You need help with your depression, and to learn ways to socialize with people. It sounds like your going through the motions to tell yourself you “tried” but aren’t making the connections.

You said Meetup, what kind of Meetup groups are you going to? Find an activity you

I had two or three birthdays in a row that no one showed. I learned you have to go to other people’s parties, have people over individually, and like Patrick said, they have to feel personally invited, not like you clicked “invite all” on your FB page.

My last birthday was packed. I invited 30ish people, thinking I’d

I bought a light similar to this and it seems a little sketchy. I meant to buy this one specifically, but Vansky has 4 different “Sunrise Wake Up” alarm clocks that all look the same. The “sunset” feature didn’t work as described, and the clock light is so bright that you have to turn it all the way off at night.

Yeah, I know a Jewish woman like that. Never. Stops. TALKING.

On a more serious note, when we talk about stuff like this, people like to forget nuance.

OF COURSE women also do this. OF COURSE there are women who talk non-stop. OF COURSE there is women who are condescending. OF COURSE dudes do it to dudes, not just

So much this. There’s so many rules about being a woman, like when to speak up or when not to or when it’s rude or when it’s being a doormat, etc etc. It’s exhausting.

Another sign: if it’s less of a back-and-forth conversation and more of a monologue; also, when you talk over the person when they try to speak up (and mostly likely tell you that THEY KNOW THEY WROTE THE BOOK)

The problem is getting the ambulance dispatched. I sat on hold on 911 once for 5 minutes before hanging up and thinking, “good thing no one’s bleeding to death.”

Thank you! I was just asking about Lovecraftian stuff for October. This is a perfect mix of everything I was looking for....including the audiobook being on Hoopla!

Geez. I see plenty of “fruit only diets cure EVERYTHING!” that drive me insane. Someone posted that blueberries cured cancer. Really people???

It IS scary how well placebos work.

There’s no such thing as “alternative medicine.” If it works, it’s just called “medicine.”

I try not to come to these posts and say “this is why I don’t want to have children” buuuuuuuut ::gestures wildly::

Please. Ladies. Don’t.

I got the RoboVac 11, not the wi-fi version, a few days ago. It’s pretty cool so far, but I’m worried about the battery not being replaceable. This is my first robot vacuum so I’m not sure if that’s normal.
