i honestly don't why you're struggling with this so much…it's not a difficult concept. infact it couldn't be more simple.
this isn't our earth in the sense that it's fantasy and has magic/dragons etc - but it IS 100% based off of our own medieval culture in the human aspect. specifically the war of the roses. GRRM will

personally i think this episode was phenominal and is now my favourite to date. it just knocks any other episode of television i've ever seen out of the water. the only thing that lacked was the handling of the wall's storyline overall across the season.

it's not the wall that suffered from that though - GRRM actually expanded the wall storyline and it grew stronger from book to book, as jon's character grew stronger.
the character/plot line that he got himself all in a bother with because of that was dany in her mereenese knot - GRRM will happily admit that.
his plan

*bangs head against wall*
*reiterates dialogue from end scene discussing plan*

it's too early for stannis - in the books he doesn't arrive until jon's already in mance's tent, so this is actually staying true to that.

yeah i think it's pretty obvious that it's the show's utter lack of investment in the wall that turns non-readers off it. pyp and grenn have been characters since season 1 and most don't even know who they are ffs!! that's ridiculous!

people are missing it. you even seem to be missing that it's a SUICIDE mission….which, AGAIN, was explicitly stated at the end of the last episode.

D&D's dry humping of kings landing has been apparent for 3 years now. even when the story of the books has very little happening in kigslanding and most of the stuff happening elsewhere, they'll INVENT scenes for KL and cut fucking half of the material for other stories out. that's what they've been doing with jon

…how are people missing the bit at the end of the episode where jon states his intention is to KILL mance????!!!

1. the watch sent out multiple letters to all the high lords in westeros and have been doing so since the start of the series. none except stannis give a shit - tywin even had a scene where he explicitly said (paraphrasing) "hopefully the wildlings win and fuck up the north some so that everyone up there's super

i didn't say be *completely* objective - i said be balanced. it's perfectly fine to like some characters more than others and let it be known in your review….so long as you're fair and mature enough to see the whole scope. todd's not. he was biased going in and inable to get over that, which meant he didn't give a

no - a good reviewer to the best of their ability sets their own personal bias to the side as much as they possibly can so that they can give a *BALANCED ANALYSIS* of the episode.
here exactly the opposite has happened.

book jon snow is WIDELY loved.
show jon is popular and liked, but not to the same extent. the fault in that lies purely with the writing - every season sees him as an "also ran" tagged on to the side. so much of his story has been cut out or changed and ignored, with the result being a very underdeveloped wall/jon

dany's entire mereen arc is excruciating. tyrion as a character has enough wit to scrape some interest in his DWD arc but plotwise it's pretty painful at times too.

i think the reviewer must have merely skimmed or sometimes even skipped jon's chapters altogether. he seems to disregard the character and storyline completely and hold his own view on that as law rather than taking an objective approach, despite the fact of jon being one of the series' biggest and most popular

you haven't seen this season? kit harington's been great thoughout. i had my issues with him in the past (mostly because he couldn't quite overcome the shoddy writing he was getting) but this season he's nailed every scene he's had.

you'll see the dragons next episode in a scene that's been the most expensive frames/sec to date.
i would have liked this episode slightly earlier though. it was a stellar episode - truely breath taking! - but it followed 8 episodes of essentially the same NW scene over and over again. jon's warnings go ignored and

pretty aweful review. it's obvious you personally don't like jon/the wall and are tainted by that - there are parts of this review where i wonder if you were even paying attention to the episode at all!!
also…the continuous dissing of jon's character in both book and show isn't exactly professional. you try to pass

btw, incase you still think i'm making it up and giving too much credit to the choreography - here's a behind the scenes i just came across of the fight of craster's keep where they SPECIFICALLY explain that craster's was a confined space where jon could not use his weapon "the way he wanted to".

if you blindly thrust you leave yourself open for an easy attack - and jon was fighting a much older, more experienced, undefeated ASSASSIN, who was using much more manouverable and agile blades (TWO!!) than he was.
