Just give them all Juuls or something.

Definitely a comment that is related to this interview, wow so deep.

First Reformed and Silence both got a B+ (on the low side, if you ask me), Calvary a B, The Tree of Life an A. Even Mary Magdalene got a C. It seems to me that faith-based films receive a broad spectrum of grades, with the D being reserved for bland mediocrities that purposefully ignore any smidgen of complexity from

The ideas in this movie (PP makes money off fetal tissue, abortion is like slavery, women who get abortions are either promiscuous sluts or innocent victims goaded into the act by Soros-loving liberals) are espoused by a not-insignificant number of people with real decision-making power. You just need to look at

Except, of course, that it’s not a “baby.” It can become one once it’s born, but a 10 week fetus is absolutely not a baby, or an autonomous being. And it’s not “unfortunate” that fetuses are “dependent” on a woman’s body any more than it’s unfortunate that blood is dependent on the heart to circulate.

Except when the mother can’t care for the child, is ostracized by her family/ community for being pregnant in the first place, her life/ mental health are in danger because of the pregnancy, there’s been a rape/ incest, the fetus is non viable/ has a debilitating illness with no chance of improvement etc. etc.

No worries, I’m going to see it twice.

The cats from Inside Llewyn Davis and The Long Goodbye are so mad at being left out, they’re currently peeing all over the AV Club.

I teach a television course sometimes and every year I do, most students cite Friends, BBT and Criminal Minds as their favorite shows. I asked around (in another class) and nobody had seen Bird Box or Bandersnatch, and few had heard of either. Last year, Twin Peaks: The Return was

How is that the studios’ problem? Netflix refuses to show its movies in theatres and when it does, it demands four-walling. In what way is this the studios’ fault?

Look, if Amazon can put its movies in theatres without whining and complaining, so could Netflix. There needs to be some pressure here, otherwise in a few years the only things playing in a cinema will be bloated CGI blockbusters made by committee.

Driving Miss Daisy won Best Picture the same year Do the Right Thing wasn’t even nominated.

Aw, you tried to make a joke and you failed.

So far the “select Canadian locations” appear to be non-existent.

You do realize that investigating an attack presupposes believing that it happened, right? That’s why the police usually start by looking for a perpetrator instead of assuming that the victim is lying.

Homophobic and racist attacks happen all the time, and they’re rarely committed by left-wing people. And let’s not pretend MAGA chuds are just peacefully going about in the world, expressing reasonable opinions: the news is full of these assholes attacking people - hell, the other day one of these upstanding citizens

You, sir, are a fucking idiot.

Fair enough. I forgot about Tolkien. Still, I would argue that modern usage of the word is overwhelmingly marked as female, and besides, the witch on this particular show is clearly a woman, so the gender-neutral adjective just seems odd to me.

It’s also been used to describe women because there’s a corresponding word for men who practice magic, and that’s “wizard.” Also “warlock,” I guess.

Well, good luck with that.
